Environment & Safety Policy

This policy confirms the commitment of TATA HOUSING DEVELOPMENT COMPANY LTDto carry out its health and safety responsibilities and duties in a manner designed to achieve and maintain a high standard of protection for our employees, the environment, property, equipment and the public in the conduct of our business.

We will apply this policy and continually strive to enhance these standards in all of our operations, from the initial planning and design stage through construction, final turnover and start-up, and continuous operations.

All THDCL management, supervisiors and employees along with our direct contractors/sub contractors/consultants/commissioning agents and their employees are charged with the responsibility of providing and maintaining the highest degree of health and safety performance, and the protection of our environment as well as the safety of others affected by our work.

It is this commitment to excellence that motivates THDCL to be diligent in the placement of supervisors and the selection of contractors and suppliers. Through our established programmes, as well as relevant training and open communication, we nurture the employees’ desire to excel in the areas of Environment, Health and Safety performance of the project work.

While complying with the governments’ Environment, Health and Safety regulatory requirements, we will also meet or exceed recognized standards as an integral part of this policy.

Green Architecture

Tata Housing Development Company Limited has been the biggest proponent of green initiatives in the Indian real estate space. It pioneered sustainable green developments at a time when such a concept did not exist. As a responsible corporate citizen, all projects of Tata Housing are sustainable green developments under the guidelines of Indian Green Building Council (IGBC).

The company's first green development executed under this motto is Xylem, which is also Bengaluru's first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environment Design) gold-certified green IT Park. This IT Park has been designed to tackle the ‘sick building syndrome,’ with its major focus on occupants’ health with an ergonomic design and architecture. The design boosts employee productivity as well as helps reduce the operational cost of the building. Xylem has received the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED-Gold) rating. This is one of the most environmentally friendly buildings of its size in the entire country.

The company's other properties such as Aquila Heights in Bengaluru and Raisina Residency in Gurgaon are also IGBC gold certified green developments, while the company’s premium luxury villas at Lonavala are platinum rated by IGBC.

As on today, Tata Housing is developing over 44 million sq. ft., which is under various stages of developments, all built under the guidelines drawn by IGBC.
